I am finding myself having to confront my desire to be able to spend some time with people who are easy to be with. The truth is that when I think about it, anyone who is not devoted to Jesus tire me in someway because their sin or focus of self do not encourage me. That pretty much means what I really want to do is hang out with other sacrificial followers of Jesus.
Loving my neighbors will likely mean it won't be fun or relaxing. Could it be that some churches don't grow because it's members are unwilling to be uncomfortable?

Yep. And just being devoted to Jesus doesn't cut it either. They have to be very similar to you culturally too. I minister to a huge diverse number of ethnicities and it's exhausting for each of them and me to communicate on a deeper level. Sharing common points of reference and vocabulary is a big deal in relationships.

Same here - got my fill of that as a public school teacher and then at my previous place of residence. Really have to remind myself to reach out sometimes.

Interesting point - that even though people might be fully committed to Jesus, cultural barriers can still make working for community exhausting.
