great post from facebook
"You cannot on one hand be outraged by Weinstein and his actions towards women, while on the other hand praise Hefner and his company by saying he "revolutionized" the way sex is seen today. If you are against mistreatment and harassment and the objectification of human beings, you have to be against the entire porn industry - and that industry isn't just websites or brothels or strip clubs, but it also includes movies like 50 Shades of Grey, Deadpool, Fast and Furious, Magic Mike, just to name a few. If you stand against something, you must stand against ALL of it. If you stand for something, you must stand for ALL of it."

I agree with the sentiment here but the realist in me is screaming, "Sure you can!" Many people, in fact, do this all the time, usually when it suits their preferences. One of the most famous examples of this politically was "Censure and move on" when Bill Clinton cheated on his wife and lied to the American people about it followed by "Not my Pastor in Chief" and "He's a baby Christian" when our current president bragged that he could grab women's genitalia if he so desired. In both instances, groups yelled (rightfully) "Character matters!" but that went out the window when it was "their guy". That's just one example of many, but the point is that people seem to very rarely stay consistent in their convictions. I agree they should but disagree that that should be used as a way to deflect away from when some "get it right" even if they may not have in the past. The truth is, based on the example from these posts, Weinstein, Clinton, and Trump all acted like dirtbags and we should not be hesitant to call all of them out on it, however, if anyone calls any one of them out for acting like dirtbags, they aren't technically wrong
