Last night on my way to Richmond I got behind a snow plow traveling 35 km/h . He turned where I was turning so decided to pass him since he didn't seem to be doing anything. Retrospect he may have been spreading salt . I managed to get up to 60 km/h (40 mph -limit 80 ) There as light snow but nothing bad . Anyway , shortly after passing him I veered to the left and into that ditch . It was fairly smooth but no amount of trying on my part could get me out. It was just a gentle slope to the ditch and no hard snow just the more recent few inches of light stuff . Called CAA and they said it'd be a half hour . In the meantime there were many who stopped to see if I was OK . The first man checked out the exhaust and said it was clear so safe to run the motor to stay warm ./After that 2 more cars stopped , a fire truck , paramedics , an OC transpo bus , and the police . The latter was a Scottish cop ) loved his accent ) and he said he'd stay till CAA came . He took my licence and insurance and when he returned them said if there was no damage to the car it was a non-reportable accident . Finally CAA came and got me out easily . The cop said I was most fortunate as there was no damage to the car . And I was fine, and after so many people asked .
Travelled on my way , late , of course by an hour , (rather than the early I was going to be ) and I heard a snap . A bit later I realized there was no wiper on the driver's side . Discovered it laying between the side mirror and the door when I got to my destination. Jim ,our leader at TOPS .put it on for me but said it didn't snap in. He tried after but couldn't get it off so left it . Heading home a couple times the wipers stopped in an up way when I had it on mist so I resorted to manually putting them on a swipe at a time .
Decided to got to the dealer's this morning but of course , the wipers acted normally. Did ask him to take off the wiper and reinstall it but he couldn't get it off . He ( the service rep ) asked for help and he couldn't either . Said they 'd have to break it to get it off . So that is something to face in the spring when we switch to summer blades . It'll be about the time of an oil change so I'll get the dealer to do it .
That road is fairly b and a long stretch of country road and I could have been broadsided in my skid to the ditch . God truly cared for me . I always pray for protection before I head out especially in the winter and sure won't stop .
