Over the last few months we've been gearing up for this. We have set a huge goal for attendance for this day and it has probably aged me a decade. It would be so much easier to have a more reasonable number. But the truth is, if I had a more reasonable number I would not be working or praying as hard as I am. I have not provided the necessary leadership for this effort. Fortunately I have a staff member who has balls of steel and it is a phenomenal leader. He's the one I have been following to make this happen. We are seeing a small group of people leaving who liked our church when it was small, leaving for other small churches. That takes an emotional toll on someone like me. But I suppose it is necessary if your mission is to reach as many people as possible.
