Let's talk Baseball... Whom do you think will win the World Series? And in other news, I am ecstatic that the Cubs cinched the division AGAIN.... Just had to throw that in there for Lucas.

So no Wild Card teams are options in the poll? That might be presuming a bit too much. Not that I'm thinking my Cardinals have a realistic chance at this point (one more loss and they are eliminated), but Wild Card winners do go on to the World Series with some regularity, and sometimes they even win it. #AllPostSeasonTeamsMatter

So yes, we can include one of the wild card teams as an option, although I don't think I can change the poll. Since you posted but didn't vote, I take it you want to vote for one of the wild card teams or are you just waiting to see what happens closer to the WS?

My HOPE, of course, is that St. Louis will somehow manage to get the second National League Wild Card slot, win that game, go on and win the League, and then win the World. Do I think that is likely? Not really. I'll wait a few days, though, to get a closer idea of how things shake up.

A lot of things are possible. If they get one more loss, then no, they are eliminated. "Possible" is a word that leaves open everything that is not impossible. And as unlikely as it would be for the Cardinals to become the World Champions this year, there is certainly a path. Probable? No. Not at all likely. But a boy can always hope! The Rockies are my backup team, and they are still in the Wild Card running, too.

Lucas, you said that you were going to cheer on the Nats now that the Cards are out.... the good thing about that is that you are cheering on some players who came from my local minor league team, the Senators. It's strange for me to keep hearing about such and such player at Harrisburg....

It's strange for me to keep hearing about such and such player at Harrisburg.... To clarify, I said that I would cheer for the Nats in the NLDS games they play against the Cubs. The Rockies are my second team, so if they hold on to the Wild Card, they will ultimately be who I cheer for. To clarify further, the Cardinals are not out yet. If they lose tonight, or any other games left in the regular season, they are. But they DO still have a path to the postseason. Unlikely, yes. Impossible, no. And that's one of the things that I love about baseball. The unlikely not too infrequently becomes the reality. So no, I'm not expecting it, but I'm still cheering the Cards on. As I post this, they are 1-1 against the Cubs, and it is the Seventh Inning Stretch. So tonight's game is still very much up in the air. And if they pull it off tonight, it is on to tomorrow!

Our last out was almost a home run, which would have tied the score again. The ball was right over the wall, and one of your guys was able to jump, reach over, and grab it before it landed. It was the kind of move that I love . . . when it is my team making it. Instead, it left me curled up on the floor sobbing. (Not really.) So now, GO ROCKIES!!!!

I'm going with the Indians winning it all, but my heart is pulling for the Dodgers to turn it around.

Tonight on ESPN is the AL Wild Card game. Tomorrow is the NL Wild Card Game on TBS. For the AL, I would like the Yankees to win but I don't mind if a Midwestern team wins. For the NL, I think they are both really good teams [CO and AZ] and either one would be a worthy contender.

Mom and I are enjoying the Indians/Yankees game right now. But we are really looking forward to when the Cubs and the Dodgers play each other - we'll be a split household.

For sentimental reasons, I'd like the Yankees to win but I, as a Cubs fan, know the feeling of wanting a win after not getting it for decades. Thus, I am kind of routing for the Indians. Plus, a rematch of the Cubs and Indians would be really COOL!

I was NOT pleased about the Cubs loss tonight. But the Dodgers will help me not feel so blah. Plus, the next Cubs game will be at Wrigley field so that should help.
